GMG @ PlayStation

PlayStation has been an incredible supporter of Girls Make Games over the years. They’ve championed GMG’s programs at every step and created opportunities for the girls beyond what any young budding developer could ever imagine. PlayStation’s support comes in so many forms, but we’ve highlighted a few of our favorites:

Summer Camps

Camper interviews at the 2018 Girls Make Games summer camp held at PlayStation.

Every summer, PlayStation has hosted GMG’s flagship 3 week long summer camp where dozens of lucky girls learned how to make their own games in one of the coolest spaces imaginable. Campers from around the Bay Area also take a field trip to PlayStation HQ in San Mateo, CA. The onsite tours & guest speakers give the girls an incredible (and fun!) sneak peek into potential career paths in the industry.

Workshops

Media Molecule, an amazing game studio under the Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios family, collaborated with Girls Make Games to bring the first ever Dreams workshop to GMG’s UK community. The girls learned how to create their own video game within a game!

Demo Day

GMG concludes its summer camp season with the annual Girls Make Games Demo Day competition where the top 5 teams from around the country pitch their games to industry professionals. We’re so honored PlayStation hosted Demo Day every year from 2017-2019!

Meeting Professional Developers

On top of all that, PlayStation has provided programmers, artists, animators, narrative designers, & many others from various disciplines to meet & speak with the girls! In the summer of 2019, we had the opportunity to sit down with a couple of the amazing PlayStation women to hear their stories and bring them to you online —

It goes without saying that PlayStation’s support has been a huge game changer for youngs girls and the overall success of Girls Make Games’ programs. We’ll say it over and over again, as many times as we can:

Thank You PlayStation 💙
