Camp Counselor

The Camp Counselor will mentor students in game development, design, creative tools, and programming. You will be assigned 4-5 excited campers and will work with them for the 3 week duration of camp.
As a Counselor, you will interact with your team on a daily basis, oversee their hard work, and answer all of their curious questions. You understand how to take a game from concept to design, to creation, and are super excited to show others how to do it, too!
You are there to guide them through milestones, keeping scope manageable while maintaining excitement for the project. Easy peasy, right? ;)

Qualifications
Excited about teaching & mentoring kids
Have or pursuing a Computer Science, Game Development/Design, or Education degree or equivalent
Experience in C#, C++, Java, block coding, game programming, or other programming languages
Love of technology / video games!

Responsibilities
Lead a group of 4-5 students through game development process from start to finish
Teach intro to game programming, design, art & more. Note: all curriculum is provided by GMG
Guide students through bugs & technical challenges
Lead team discussions
Plan and set milestones for your student’s projects - you're the producer!

The Camp Coordinator is in charge of running and managing the Girls Make Games camp - from leading staff, to coordinating logistics with the venue, organizing field trips + special days and interacting with parents.
As a Coordinator, you will be responsible for creating an excellent camp experience. This includes maintaining a high standard for daily activities, observing and reacting to student and counselor feedback, and providing timely updates to GMG leadership.
In addition to your daily duties, you will also be executing the camp menu (hungry campers make grumpy campers!), and attending to the occasional camp emergencies (think first aid).

Tech Lead

The Tech Lead helps camp run smoothly by providing live technical support to all staff (e.g. Camp Counselors) across the country. As a Tech Lead, you enjoy diving deep into new technologies, have great communication, and are eager to help others. You’ll work closely with GMG HQ to ensure curriculum is delivered as smoothly as possible.

Have or pursuing a Computer Science degree or equivalent

Experience building games in engines such as Construct 3, Unity, Stencyl or equivalent.

Troubleshoot technical issues communicated via Slack and Zoom
Respond to issues that arise quickly and effectively
Provide solutions that are easy to understand and implement
GMG’s resident expert of technologies used at camp (e.g. Construct 3, Zoom, Piskel, etc)
Familiarity with camp curriculum, technical and non-technical
Work closely with GMG HQ to provide the best staff support experience.
Camp Artist

Camp Artist helps bring the campers creativity to life. The camp artist works in their own time to create 2D Art Assets for the various games produced at camp. Please see below for more info & specs:
Artwork Scope:
2D art, style varies
Teams can request at most 2 art piece, from the following categories:
Background
Character (4 animation frames)
Object (collectible, prop, etc)
Game Logo
GMG will facilitate assigning art requests to artists and passing on the artwork to campers.
Role Details
Remote
Dates & Timeline: July 7-25, 2025
Campers will submit their art requests to GMG at the end of first week of camp
Artwork is due from all artists at the end of the second week of camp - artists have a week to finish their submissions. During the last week of camp the kids add all custom art to their final games.
Compensation: $25 per piece.
Example: if an artist completes 10 camper requests, they receive $250.
A Character with its animation frames is considered 1 art piece.
Qualifications:
Eagerness to work on 2D games art
GMG will review previous art work and portfolio to assess suitability for the role.
